Asymmetrical six-phase induction motor drives based on Z-source inverters: Modulation, design, fault detection and tolerance

Multiphase machines are becoming one of the mainstream research topics during last decade, especially in high-reliability based systems. Among different configurations multiphase machines, Asymmetrical Six-Phase Induction Motor (ASPIM) with a spatial displacement 30° is popular as it has better magnetomotive force (MMF) distribution. This paper therefore concerns detecting and mitigating operation ASPIM healthy faulty modes. Recently, Z-source Inverter (ZSI) technology attracted great researchers. The key idea this to combine together technologies ZSI. combination produces very high reliable drive system. Traditional modulation methods associated ZSI modified be convenient for drives. Besides, impedance network design procedures introduced. Moreover, Vector Space Decomposition Fault Detection (VSDFD) method been applied detect open-circuit faults used select proper post-fault operation. An experimental setup established laboratory validate proposed ideas. Finally, actual machine parameters measured investigate system performance via simulation results both conditions.
